If you choose to save the flattened version of the image, layers and other nondestructive data will be discarded and only the final edited image will be saved to your library.

If you use the Photos app or any other extension to edit and save changes to an image that has an associated Pixelmator Pro file, the layered file will no longer be opened in the extension. However, it will be preserved in iCloud or the Pictures folder until you choose to delete it. Then open it in the Pixelmator Pro extension and press the Command — o keyboard shortcut to bring up the Replace dialog.

Use the Pixelmator Pro Photos extension The Pixelmator Pro Photos extension lets you edit your images and create graphic designs using all the tools available in Pixelmator Pro right in the Photos app.

Open and edit an image. Open the Photos app. Find the image you want to edit and double-click to open it. In the top-right corner of the screen, click Edit. In the top-right corner of the screen click Edit. In the toolbar at the top of your screen, click and choose Pixelmator Pro. Turn Pixelmator into a completely new drawing app, called Vectormator, with a simple Command-Shift-V keyboard shortcut.

Use the Type Tool to quickly and easily add, edit, and format text. And make it look gorgeous with custom settings and styles. In addition to easily placing and formatting text, you can enjoy a full set of advanced typography features like kerning, baseline, and capitalization. Convert type layers into shape layers, and then quickly and easily apply gradients, shadows, and strokes, or even reshape individual letters. The Hue and Saturation feature is an extremely powerful yet very easy-to-use tool thathelps you adjust the colors and tonal range within your images at the same time.

This quick color correction tool lets you make simple adjustments to brightness and contrast. Use the Color Balance tool to enhance the colors of your image or to create a unique and artistic look. Create charming and authentic photos of days gone by with just a few clicks. Bring-in some sunlight and give your photos a stunning, warm, retro look with the beautiful Light-leak effect.

Make the world look smaller, simpler, almost like a toy model with the new Miniaturize effect. Shoot us a quick email. Not really. There were a few reasons for this. One: when Pixelmator Pro came out, a significant number of people would not have been able to run it as the app is built using new technologies that require a relatively new Mac. Two: Some of the changes might have been too drastic for a lot of people.

For those two reasons and a few others , it made the most sense to release Pixelmator Pro as a brand new app. We have now removed Pixelmator Classic from App Store and will eventually stop updating it. Anyone who has already bought it will be able to redownload it, of course — just like any other Mac app.

You can download it here. We want to make it more powerful, more full-featured, and even easier to use. Since it was released over four years ago, Pixelmator Pro has already received 13 incredible major updates and we have no plans to slow down.
